These days, it can seem like everyone has a mailing list.

Do you remember the early days of the internet? Your computer would say “You’ve got mail!”, and you’d get all excited and rush over. Boy, whatever happened to those days?

Now it’s more like “You’ve got spam, jerk”… over and over, 24/7.

Of course, many online companies are doing some sort of “permission marketing” campaign using a more ethical type of email blast, but even that is getting old.

And it’s usually something dumb like “FREE 9-week course for bla bla bla”. Forget that. I don’t want to get emails for 9 weeks. I’ve got things to do.

Even worse are the guys who send out “daily informative newsletters”. Who has time to read that? If you really have that much content, then put up a blog and let me read it when I have time. Don’t stuff it down my throat and clog up my inbox.

So then what is the right way to run a mailing list?

I propose a new form of list. A list that’s high on signal and low on noise.

Instead of just making a mailing list and sending out all kinds of emails that most people will probably get really annoyed with and end up just deleting, I will create a blog full of quality content.

If you want to read the blog, you’ll know where to find it and you can read it whenever you want. But the mailing list will only containe my highest-quality content. This is stuff that will exclusively be released to the site’s most dedicated fans, and won’t be released to the general public.

So maybe once a month or so, our inside members will get a special gift… maybe a video, or a giveaway, or an ebook, or an event… I’m not sure yet.

All I can promise is thatwhatever I release to the mailing list will be better than anything else that you can see on the blog.

So here it is. If you’ve enjoyed the content so far, please sign up for the list for exclusive access to our most priveliged insider content. You can quit any time you want, and I promise to only send you good stuff!
