If you believe that time is money, then you need to watch this video. Every professional freelancer has had to start-over or delay a project because a major part of the project needed to be redone.
This is a great example of why every freelance professional needs a serious online backup solution to keep them protected.
I’ve always been amazed at how Internet is a strange and wonderful place. There’s something about the anonymity that the web affords you, that can sometimes make a person behave in a way they normally would not in a face-to-face situation.
This can be seen in many online forums, where some people seem to be deliberately giving out bad advice for any one of many reasons. Maybe they want the recognition, or maybe they just want the satisfaction of watching the recipient of this advice apply it and encounter failure.
Either way, this is a perfect example of why you should always deal with a reputable professional, and leave the message boards to the keyboard jockeys.
You know, computers these days seem to be so well built. I can still remember back in the 80s and 90s, when a $5000 machine would become obsolete within a year. My, how times have changed.
These days, it’s not uncommon to see someone working on a laptop that’s 5 or 6 years old. And unless you’re a gamer or a serious computer user, it can sometimes be difficult to tell the difference between an older machine and a new one.
Still, it’s a good idea to keep your hardware up-to-date. As your equipment gets older, it also gets clunkier and more likely to fail. If you’re unprepared for such an event, the results can be disastrous.
Have a look at our latest video from Sonic Freak for a first-hand account on the importance of keeping your equipment up-to-date, and having a reliable backup process in place.
It’s a pretty well-publicized fact that human error is one of the leading causes of critical data loss. Too often, we’ll opt to perform the backups ourselves without realizing that we’re missing a significant portion of the critical data that we can’t afford to lose.
That’s why we were so excited to see this very entertaining and energetic video that was sent in to us by sethmanapio from YouTube.
Amazingly, most businesses today have never tested their backup recovery process. They just perform the backups and assume they’re being done properly. We recommend that you test your backup process at least 2 or 3 times a year… just in case.
This illustration was a response to a recent TechWire post where the writer’s laptop was stolen while his friend sat there reading a newspaper. This was a truly brazen theft.
If it could happen to the writer of a tech blog, it could happen to anyone. Make sure to protect your data with a high-quality online backup solution.
I thought the blog was due for a nice change of pace. Here’s something fun that we’ll try for a short while.
This cartoon is a reply to this blog post where the user put our a public notice to be on the lookout for their missing laptop.
If you publish a data loss horror story on your blog, let us know at stories@sumobackup.com and we’ll have an illustrator visualize it for you. It’s a nice way to get a bit of exposure for your blog.
I’m a college student, a junior in the school of business administration, although I’m also something of a nerd. I have this sneaking suspicion that I might be in the wrong field, but my parents would kill me if I told them I wanted to change my major again at this point. I love gadgets of all kinds, and I drool over the latest and greatest technologies. I was thrilled when my parents got me an iPhone for Christmas last year. It was something I would not have been able to afford on my own, given that my meager income as a part-time barista just barely helps out with some of my daily expenses. Continue reading…
